Isle of Arts promises to be a brilliantly entertaining celebration of the arts featuring music, film, drama, art, photography, literature, comedy and more. The three-day festival will be hosted in Ventnor on the south coast of the Isle of Wight, Spring 2011 (dates to be announced).
Encompassing the entire town, but focused around the Winter Gardens, Isle of Arts will feature one or more headline events each day of the festival, combining music and other performing arts. This will be supported by exhibitions and cultural events, including art, photography, comedy, drama, film and literature.
Tickets to festival events will be affordably priced and we are planning a number of fringe activities, with some free events, to give everyone a chance to enjoy the arts activity. Festival-goers will experience artists and entertainment of national and even international calibre, plus performances, workshops, competitions and other interactive events to showcase Island talent.
The first initiative to focus the spotlight on Island talent is a competition for up-and-coming graphic artists to design a limited-edition poster to launch the festival – see details on our competition page. And in the coming months further competitions, workshops and arts projects will be launched to involve schools and Islanders of all ages in artistic endeavours and preparations for the festival.
